Peter Eastgate wins WSOP 2008 |

The luck was on Peter Eastgate's side on the final hand. On the final hand Demidov had two pairs but Eastgate had a straight. All the money went in on the river and Eastgate’s final knockout punch made him World Champion.
"It kind of summed up the heads-up. I had him crippled to below 20 million and I was lucky that he hit two pair where I hit the wheel," said Eastgate. "It was kind of inevitable for those two hands to get it all in."
Before the final heads up Eastgate was ahead of Demidov by just over 21 million chips. The early action saw Demidov hit some hands and win enough pots to take over the chip lead. His lead though was temporary. |

88 players are left at EPT Budapest, including Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano, Annette Obrestad and EPT4 Prague winner Arnaud Mattern. A total of 262 players took their seats for Day 1a of the €4,350 sell-out event, the first EPT ever to be held in Hungary. Valdemar Kwaysser, who won free EPT ticket at PokerStars, also will play in next day.
Also playing today are Team PokerStars Pros Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, who just won the WPT Festa al Lago tournament in Las Vegas, Noah Boeken, William Thorson, Victoria Coren, Alex Kravchenko and Dario Minieri along with sponsored players Johnny Lodden from Norway, EPT presenter Kara Scott plus German ShootingStars Sebastian Ruthenberg and Jan Heitmann. |
